Balancing an educator’s vision with a farmer’s pragmatism

Points of Passion

Unraveling Complexity

Food systems are inherently complex, but rebuilding them into regenerative and equitable models requires understanding the systems and levers of change. Research, books, keynotes, workshops, public art--every interpretation helps engage and inform a different audience.

Box Outside the Think

Education is at its best when we step out of familiar places, paradigms, and roles. Status quo education doesn't cultivate the agents of change needed to transform food systems. Collaborative learning--onsite, online, and hybridized--grounds us all and moves us toward viable solutions .

Off-Grid Farming

UpTunket Farm has been a litmus test and source of constant grounding for 25 years, centered around raising a family and American Milking Devon cattle on an off-grid homestead. The realities of farming within the food systems laboratory we call "Vermont" informs all of my work.

ABOUT PHILIP

Author. Homesteader. Farmer. Father. Researcher. Free-Range Educator. Public Speaker.

In no particular order because every day is different and life is highly seasonal, especially in Vermont. The common thread that runs through it all? Caring about what happens next. And trying to do a little something about it, with gratitude.
